A note for a bicycle thief

EVG reader Lauralynn had her bike stolen from 10th Street near Avenue B.

The photo shows her effort to spread good vibes — even to the thief.

Bike thief,

Here is the key to the lock that was on my bike.

Enjoy the bike as much as I did, or sell it to buy whatever you so badly need.

Be well.

Dueling notes at the Miracle Garden on 3rd Street

An EVG reader shares these photos ... the above "Dear Garden Ladies" sign arrived at the Miracle Garden on Third Street between Avenue A and Avenue B ... stating:

We love this garden.

Please open it up for us. Its [sic] unfair to tease your neighbors by locking this special sanctuary.

Love your neighbors.

Someone from the garden (presumably) responded with the following letter...

...stating that "unfortunately not everyone had the respect we assume you have for the Garden & there has been severe damage (furniture broken, furniture stolen, plants trampled, plants pulled up & thrown everywhere .. etc. etc.) so for protection, we need a member around to make sure this doesn't continue."

Anyway, the letter goes on, ending with "We would love for the neighborhood to actively become involved and help."

Their monthly meeting is tonight at 7.

This weekend in attempts to buy that classic 1965 AMC Rambler Marlin on 9th Street

EVG correspondent Steven shared these photos from yesterday on Ninth Street between First Avenue and Second Avenue... someone left a note on that Dodge Rambler Marlin that's usually parked on the block...

"I want to buy your car!! Please call ... My grandma had one and it brings back great memories. XO"

Today in apologies

Spotted on Avenue A.

Water Problems
So sorry all, but someone (me) drilled through the cold water pipe that goes to the kitchens!
I will get a plumber in here ASAP, but it will probably not be before Monday.
Kitchen hot water works
All water works in bathrooms

In case you were thinking of taking this carpet back home

Second Avenue and Fifth Street this morning... a discarded carpet with a PSA... discovered by EVG reader Sam Teichman ...

"This is not one of those cool furniture street finds. To be clear it's a carpet riddled with dog poop & vomit. YOU DO NOT WANT THIS unless you particularly enjoy those scents, which to be clear, you shouldn't.

Also, the carpet was really ugly & in shit shape. Godspeed! X"

Sunny's is closed for a day or two (nothing bad no worries)

The gates are down over at the corner of Second Avenue and Sixth Street ... home of Sunny's Florist... there is a sign noting being "closed due to family matters" ...

...with a "nothing bad no worries" reassurance ... Sunny's is expected to reopen on Wednesday ("for sure").

The shop is operated by Sun "Sunny" Ja Hwang and her son Edward... and it's a great place for flowers.

Thanks to Vinny & O for the photo!

A note about some old lady who rammed your car

Spotted on East Fourth Street tonight:

"Some old lady rammed your car multiple times trying to park in front of you at 7:05 p.m. …"

The note's author didn't catch the license number, but suggests watching traffic cam footage to find the culprit.

Helpful flyer reminds residents what they can flush down the toilets in this East Village building

A reader shared this letter that the super dropped off over the weekend... seems as if residents in this building or using the toilets to flush stuff other than [censored] or, as some people crudely call it, [censored].

Other items mentioned in the flyer that should not be flushed: "Stolen government files, drug stashes, pet alligators or last night's leftover meatloaf."

The super/landlord then goes on to list exactly what can be flushed. "If what you're thinking of flushing does not meet the requirements of the above list, then do not flush it."

Kidding aside, probably a good reminder for some folks, like the ones I heard who discard their kitty litter via the toilet. Or the remains of the baby deep fryer.

As we wrote last year: Letters addressing what you can and can't flush down your toilet are always so... awkward.

Man can't remember where he left his shoes in one of these Avenue B buildings

EVG reader Derrick Loris spotted this sign on two Avenue B apartment buildings Tuesday night... apparently a man with a phone number in the 203 area code had, possibly, a little too much fun (or something!) the other night ... and couldn't his way back to wherever he was...

Per the note:

"I forgot what apt. + building I left from, why I didn't return on Sunday. The guy who left his shoes. Hope it was here."

Perhaps he could try posting a Missed Connections?

And we welcome your theories about what possibly happened here.
