Are you missing your pet parrot?

Several readers noticed an exotic bird out in the wild this morning in Tompkins Square Park nearest to the entrance at Seventh Street and Avenue B.

EVG reader Clint was able to corral the bird, and now has it at home for safekeeping...

Per Clint: "It is a black-headed caique. It's very friendly and tame. It was obviously someone's pet and well cared for."

Does it belong to you?

Updated 1/31

Clint has not found the owner yet. There is a lead that it may belong to someone at St. Brigid's. Clint is talking contact there today.

Are you missing a parrot?

We've seen a lot of missing pets flyers around... but we've never seen one for a parrot matching this description in Tompkins Square Park...

In the past month, Bobby Williams, peter radley and others have heard about this parrot, living in the wilds ... Sort of gaining Urban Legend status. We'd assume that this is an escaped pet.

Bobby finally got the above shot the other day. It was looking for food with some starlings.

Anyway, in case you're missing a parrot, there's still hope.

A happy Schmidty ending

As you may recall, Schmidty the parrot went missing the other night... But! After an anxious day-and-a-half ... his owners report a happy reunion:

He was hanging out on a tree on Avenue D and 12th street. A young guy named Jorge called us at around 8am. After many false alarms in the past two days, this was truly our parrot ...
Without the support of the amazing community this would have not been possible. Thanks you to all of you who helped ...
