A 'Heartworm' of gold

Today sees the release of the 22nd (!!!!!) Oh Sees record, a 73-minute, two-record opus called Face Stabber. The video here is for "Heartworm," one of the punkier tracks on the record.

It's all gone somewhere beyond

In memory of David Berman — the singer-songwriter behind Silver Jews and, more recently, Purple Mountains — who died this week. He was 52. A cause of death has not been revealed. His death was ruled a suicide, according to published reports.

For your ears only

Iggy Pop this week released the first single off of his forthcoming record Free, out Sept. 6. The audio track here is for "James Bond," which NME described as: "something between the trashy horror-rock of The Cramps, the restraint of Talking Heads, the naivety of Modern Lovers and the clattering fun of a bog-standard garage rock band who’d be called something like The Paisley Ghouls and would have released one single before splitting up in 1968."

Automatic for the people

The Los Angeles-based trio Automatic has a new record out in September. This audio clip is for the track "Too Much Money." Inspired by Suicide, Kleenex and Neu.

The big 'Sick'

Vivian Girls have announced their first record in eight years (and their third overall). An LP titled Memory is due in September. Ahead of that, the trio just released this audio track for a song called "Sick."

Breaking away

Jay Som — aka Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Melina Duterte — has her second record, Anak Ko, coming out on Aug. 23. The video here is for the recently released single "Superbike."

Debt sounds

The Gotobeds released their third LP, Debt Begins at 30 (via Sub Pop), back on May 31. The video here is for "Twin Cities."

Look for the Pittsburgh-based quartet will be out at Union Pool on July 17.

Spirit of '77'

The new record by the L.A.-based Froth is out now... the video here is for the track "77," which features guest vocals from Izzy Glaudini of Automatic.

They'll be out at Elsewhere on July 3.

Primal 'Scream'

Midnight, the new record (produced by Will Toledo of Car Seat Headrest) from Detroit-based musician Stef Chura is out today. The video here is for the track "Scream."

Look for her out at Rough Trade on July 12.

Run Around The Sun, the new LP by the Glasgow-based duo Sacred Paws, is out today on Merge Records. The video here is for "Almost It."
