On the Peels drink menu: The Joey Ramone (aka, this week's sign of the apocalypse)

A reader sent along a photo of the Peels drink menu... Hmm.

Booze-infused milkshakes ... The Bond Street Swizzle.... Purple Lady ... Jamaican Bug Juice ... Corn N' Oil ...

The JOEY RAMONE?!?!? With apple brandy, lime juice and concord grape juice (or concord grape wine??). I don't get it.

[Silence]

Anyway, the reader also noted that the food is really good at Peels.

[UPDATED]

Hmm... been more discussion on this than I anticipated.... And one reader thinks this makes sense since Peels is on the corner of the Bowery and Second Street — aka Joey Ramone Place.

City shutters Bull McCabe's backyard garden

An EV Grieve tipster reports that the city has temporarily shuttered the back garden at Bull McCabe's on St. Mark's Place...

According to the tipster, residents who live above the back garden had complained about incessant smoking from the bar's patrons...

2 Cooper residents treated to views of Josh Duhamel's abs, ball sack

And you can get more of a hands-on look at the movie ad here on Avenue A at 12th Street.

Chico's B Cup makeover

Chico was in action yesterday on 13th Street and Avenue B...

...creating a new sign for the B Cup...

Sea Salt still preserved

Back in March, we noted the rather eerie scene inside the former Sea Salt space on Second Avenue two-plus years after it shuttered.... workers have been puttering around inside of late ... and EV Grieve reader Alice caught a glimpse of this table... set for the ghosts of Sea Salt's past, perhaps....

At Sea Salt, the lights are still on, but no one is dining

New York is not dead!

On Saturday, the Post boldly declared that New York nightlife is not dead!

Why? Because of many new clubs... including our very own White Noise....

To the article!

WHITE NOISE (225 Avenue B; 212-539-0925)
SCENE: Sexy rock chicks too young to know a lot of the ’80s tunes they’re hearing lounge about on Gothic-style furniture. Co-owners Luke Brian Sosnowski and Timothy Falzone keep Maroon 5 off the playlist, and the scene lasts very, very late. Those who remember Chelsea’s defunct rock club Snitch will dig this scene, especially when bands play surprise shows. People who look like East Villagers circa 2000 will get in easily; those who discovered the ’hood post-Starbucks may find themselves left out.
CROWD: Fashion Week saw plenty of wayward models and late-night stragglers coming from events like the John Varvatos/Original Moonshine whiskey launch party.
BOOZE: A bottle of Stoli is $350, but rarely ordered and not a ticket for admission. The specialty cocktail is a $9 Jack Daniel’s honeycomb lemon mix. Beers range from $4 to $7.
PROS: Has the potential to get trippy and wild.
CONS: First-time operators may struggle to maintain control.

East Village room not meant for large coaches

Speaking of typos...

Via Streeteasy:

Large room for rent in a Prime East Village Townhouse. Easily fit a queen size bed, small coach & entertainment unit.

So, this implies that I'd have no room for my Rex Ryan?

East Village Finest Deli is now open

Here on Avenue B and Fourth Street at the former home of Finest Pizza and Deli ... looks pretty good to me, and better then the pizza before it...

Here's the rundown. And why didn't Liev and Naomi let me know?

Pedestrian struck by Cadillac on Third Avenue

Vautrin, a photographer whose work we have published here before, sent along these photos. As Vautrin notes, last night at 9:09, a Cadillac sedan turning from 8th Street/Astor Place onto Third Avenue struck a pedestrian in the crosswalk. Police arrived in due course. Ambulance from Beth Israel arrived very promptly. From the photo, the pedestrian appears to have suffered a lower right leg/ankle/foot injury. And the smile on the face of the ambulance attendant in the last photo may be taken as a relatively favorable sign.

Sticker art prompting pro-con Islamic center debate

You've probably seen this stickers on the northern stretch of Avenue A and on 14th Street... it's an attempt to promote some pro-con discussion about the mosque/community center that apparently has been in the news lately....

So... how's it going so far....?

Hmmm....

Mysteries of our time — solved!

I like Colin Moynihan's piece in the Times today about Momo's 8-mile-long tag throughout the city... You've seen it...And probably already knew who was responsible for it.... I didn't realize it was such a mystery. Still, a good recap. Per the article:

Although it has existed for four years, the paint line has escaped most people’s notice. And among those who have paused to register its presence, few have probably spent much time contemplating its origin. It is, after all, just a simple bit of paint: one more arcane marking in an urban landscape filled with street art and random splashings; a small-caliber mystery in a big city rich with secrets.

“The orange drip that flows through the East Village,” Sharon Jane Smith, 57, mused on Sunday as she gazed at the section of the line that meandered past her East Village shop, A Repeat Performance, on First Avenue near East 10th Street. “I have no idea where that orange drip came from."

Best Roof Talk Ever has more on Momo here.

And here is the video Momo made about the project...

Welcome to the Mary Help of Christians flea market

I'll go back later....but it's on.

The Mary Help of Christians Church Flea Market returns today

EV Grieve reader Shawn Chittle sent along this photo from yesterday afternoon... prep work for The Mary Help of Christians Church Flea Market, which returns today to 11th Street and Avenue A...

If you swing by, then let me know how it is... good stuff? Total crap? Drugs? Porn?
