Another downed tree

EV Grieve reader Alex reports the loss of a beautiful tall tree in the yard between Fifth and Sixth Streets between Avenue A and B.

Fortunately, the tree fell toward Avenue A, because otherwise it would probably have taken out some people's windows.

The tree (on the left) in August 2009. Not sure when the tree on the right came down.

Per EV Grieve reader Jamie: "Past Tompkins...teeming with rats...pretty unbelievable. It looks like the whole ground was moving."

And from @gaminette — "There are dozens of not dead rats in Tompkins Square Park - they came thru #Irene just fine."
