Le Café Coffee adding new location on 4th Avenue

The folks at Le Café Coffee have carved out a second Union Square location here at 145 Fourth Ave. between East 13th Street and East 14th Street. (The other Le Café is around the corner at 7 E. 14th St. between Fifth Avenue and Union Square West.)

Not sure about an opening date — looks close to being ready.

Whenever they do open up, they'll have plenty of competition in the area … with the Wayside on East 12th Street just west of Third Avenue ... City of Saints Coffee Roasters on East 10th Street between Fourth Avenue and Third Avenue ... Third Rail Coffee on East 10th Street near Second Avenue ... Think Coffee on Fourth Avenue between East 12th Street and East 13th Street... Everyman Espresso on East 13th Street west of Third Avenue… Pushcart Coffee on Third Avenue at East 12th Street ... the Bean on Broadway at East 12th Street ... not to mention two Starbucks on Union Square… and the Dunkin' Donuts on East 14th Street between Fourth Avenue and Third Avenue ... and all the other places that I'm forgetting…

And the fabulous Paradis, also on 4th Ave at East 12th Street... they have good coffee!

I make my own using Lavazza espresso and a nice espresso machine. It costs less than 20 cents a cup and is better than anything out of these places, even the Australian and Korean ones.

@7:32 am: I never get the coffee at Paridis but just about everything else I've tried is very good--pastries, soups, salads, quiches, chilies, meat pies, lasagnas, etc...

Now that Peet's Coffee has bought Stumptown, will they be known as Peet's Stump? Or Stump Peet?

Ironically Argo Tea on University Place has some of the best coffee around. But even they had to give up half of their space due to the high rent and they were as busy as any place in the area.

Amazing that people in this dead economy have so much imaginary money to burn on nonsense like YET ANOTHER COFFEE SHOP.

Two Starbucks on Union Square, and another one at 3rd ave and 15th St.

Breads Bakery also sells coffee at 16th and Union Square West

And the Pret at 17th and Union Square West.

And all of the fast food joints that sell coffee.

Dark roast coffee has less caffeine than light roast coffee. If you like low caffeine drink you can drink dark roast coffee.
