Avenue A Sushi is now...

Avenue A Sushi closed last spring...

And reopened as something else... and then closed again...

I've lost track of the various incarnations of late... In any event, there's a new sign now...

Hmm. "Mexican-Italian Infusion." (!?)

Meanwhile, during the weekend, a bartender there allegedly smoked crack and locked himself inside the Bistro. Bob Arihood has that story here at the much-welcomed return of Neither More Nor Less.

Whatever was in the Avenue A Sushi place is now closed

Avenue A Sushi between Seventh Street and Sixth Street closed last year around this time... After several weeks, the renovated space reopened in April... as either Avenue A Sushi or G2 Kurosawa — never did figure that out...

Anyway! A reader had noted that the place looked closed of late... I was waiting for confirmation from management when this sign appeared yesterday...

And who knew they were called Avenue A Bistro Bar now? The original Avenue A Sushi opened here in 1983.

P.S.

A scene outside Avenue A Sushi Bar/G2 from last September:

Bob Arihood, who took this photo, noted that the line went north to Seventh Street, and then west on Seventh Street... When RyanAvenueA asked management what the line was for, they responded later "What line?"

A party at Avenue A sushi.... and on the sidewalk

We're getting word of a huge blowout last night at Avenue A Sushi (or G2 Kurosawa — little confused on the name these days). The line, which lasted a good portion of the evening, went north to Seventh Street, and then west on Seventh Street. All the while, the crowd blocked most of the sidewalk. Bob Arihood, who took the above photo, talked to some of the line dwellers, and was simply told there was a party.

Indeed.
