At the already reasonably priced La Isla Restaurant on 14th Street near Avenue B.
At Life Cafe, 10th Street and Avenue B. (If this wasn't so blurry, you could easily spot the "weekly recession specials" in the upper right-hand corner.)
Flier for a dog-washing shop on East Ninth Street.
Signs from around the neighborhood.
Near Wall Street.
On John Street in the Financial District.

A few signs from the recession

I'm curious to know if scenes like the top photo are becoming more common in the past 6 months or so? I know it's winter so it's not as easy to guage, but are the numbers of homeless visibly rising in NYC, since, say, last July?
Hi NYCDreamin... Yes, unfortunately, what you see in that top photo seems to be more common these days.
By the way, I took the photos of the La Isla on different days...I didn't want to give the impression that I was stepping over anyone to take an upclose photo of a sign. I hesitated to even use the top photo, but it is an unfortunate sign of the times...one worth documenting.
