Workers were spotted clearing out the Orpheum Theatre today... two days after "Stomp" ended its 29-year run here on Second Avenue between Seventh Street and St. Mark's Place...
Some items were going into waiting trucks... while other props were put on the curb. One of the workers said people could help themselves to the stuff...

On my way! My neighbors will love this!
My ex boyfriend was one of the main talent for this show in the 2010's. He had such a wonderful time and forged life long friendships with many performers from this experience. We eventually broke up yet still remained friends, he moved to LA, and began booking solid work on TV and film. As a long term resident of our hood, I still think of him often when walking past the marquee and main doors. Now that it is going away, it makes me a little sad.
A great event. A show that helped launch so many young talented artists. A mainstay. Sad to see it go. In this country we have no reverence for legacy.
Before Stomp had its opening night the original cast would hang out at the Telephone Bar. Energetic bunch of Brits, good people. Saw it shortly after opening and had a blast.
Another piece of of our neighbors dies. 😔 However I don’t want to be all doom and gloom, and I’m truly hoping that something fun and original takes it’s place!🙏🏻
This is like when Kramer found the Merv Griffin Show set in a dumpster.
Looks mostly like what the production would have deemed consumables on a weekly/monthly basis.
It’s wild to see all those props that are so familiar from the show’s omnipresence for a year or two in the 90s just out on the street to take. I feel like they should be held in a collection or museum somewhere, even though they are seemingly valueless items (kind of the whole point of the show). I hope the people who take them give them some care and respect.
