Work is wrapping up at the new mural on 14th Street at Avenue A featuring the Beastie Boys (Posse in Effect).
As previously noted, Shepard Fairey (below), in collaboration with the Lisa Project NYC, created this stories-high work from a photo by East Village-based photographer Glen E. Friedman.
The mural is part of the ongoing celebration of 50 years of hip-hop.

This afternoon, there was a dedication ceremony featuring First Deputy Mayor Sheena Wright and local City Councilmember Keith Powers ... and Lisa Project co-founders Wayne Rada and Rey Rosa (you can watch the broadcast here) ...
Last month, the city officially co-named the corner of Ludlow and Rivington Beastie Boys Square on the Lower East Side.

Bravo to East Village based LISA Project for adding another dope mural to their neighborhood.
I was in an Uber today while they were finishing up the final touches. So freaking cool. Love this for our hood.
looks great. too bad it's near a generic domino's
Shepard Fairey was very nice to talk with. Great mural too.
(Now, can we get rid of the MJ one for once and for all?)
Love it. Fitting, too, since I think the Boys went to Stuyvesant.
Turned out great - thanks all for doing this and yes I agree with @3:13, the MJ one needs to go and be replaced by Lou Reed
it looks great!!
Love it!!! This is so Shepards visual eye. Very punk!!!
Agree about creepy MJ and Brazillian Kobra is a self-promoting one-trick pony anyway. Why add Frida Kahlo to the Mount Rushmore mural he did of Warhol, Basquiat and Haring? She's not anything to do with the other three who became famous and adopted by New Yorkers
So similar to the original Mount Rushmore. The MET has Frida's artwork.
Haha yeah just like it! The Met has 1.5 million works of art and they aren't all associated with NY. She wasn't a pop artist or street artist or friends with the other three, who each hung out. Only thing she has in common is that she is also a cliché figure, milked for money and publicity. Mount Sellmore. Kobra knows celebrity sells.
Love the Beastie Boys they have come a long way they have Grown to be such amazing individuals R.I.P Yauch ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
We have seen their struggles ,misbehaving and Growth into such Great Artists. The Beastie Boys are one of a kind . I love them for their outspoken actions wisdom and the great contributions they have dedicated to the music industry , Congratulations on such great achievements.
i went to nyc public school w the beastie boys, but i kinda wish the mural was BB & run dmc together. That corner is a crossroads.
I agree, Lou Reed is underrepresented. A Lou and Laurie mural would also be nice to see in the 'hood.
