This is not a drill! Why you need to see this new mural on 12th and C at night

NYC-based artist Tom Bob is known for incorporating urban objects into his murals.

For the newest work at the 12C Outdoor Gallery on the SW corner of 12th Street and Avenue C, Tom Bob used a light fixture on the building in a piece titled "Jack Hammer Head Lamp."
"His creations expand our imaginations and inspire us to view public spaces with a refreshed perspective and joy,” 12C curator Robert Galinsky told us.

Beautiful. But I still don't understand why the Gil Scott-Heron mural was wiped out.

The building of renovated so the mural went with the renovation. The building is in a unique non-gentrification program where the tenants get to stay at the affordable rate they had before and new tenants will have the same. The curator of the wall decided Gil Scott had its fair share of light and wanted to bring another icon to the wall: Albisu Campos. It’s art. It’s ephemeral. Evanescent. People need to come to terms with that simple and beautiful aspect of art.

Wow! The mural previously was great but as renovation happens it is understandable that it is lost. Great new mural. Thank you for sharing!
