In announcing the closure earlier this month on Instagram, the bar-restaurant's management wrote, in part: "To all of our guests, staff members, friends, and family, thank you for making Boulton & Watt your home."
The Boulton & Watt brand will live on with an outpost at JFK's Terminal 4 in the coming months (we happened to spot it while catching a flight last month)...
Look for the prime EV corner to stay in the Paradise Hospitality (Mister Paradise, Wiggle Room, Pretty Ricky's) family. The Instagram post also notes: "Stay tuned for some exciting news about a new project in this space; see you all very soon!"
And because someone will post "Bring back Nice Guy Eddie's" in the comments... this space was previously Nice Guy Eddie's. The bar-restaurant with Chico's KISS mural closed in June 2011 after 16 years in service.

Bummer. Will especially miss the patio and the Brick Chicken.
Sad for those that worked hard for the place, but I am SO happy that we get to have the corner sidewalk back, that was insane how they were allowed to take that over, on such a busy corner, for so long. City Council, DOT, etc. let things like this go on for far too long.
Makes me nervous if the same people re trying to open a space there, considering they own "Wiggle Room" next door which is the most bridge and tunnel college dance club with a long loud line down the block every weekend.
I never forgave them for painting over the KISS mural outside when they opened anyways
Weird location for this kind of place, and yeah, it was shitty to paint over the iconic Kiss mural!
Great neighborhood place with very friendly staff. Sorry to see them go.
I doubt the news will be 'exciting.'
I'm always livid they close off a wide part of the sidewalk for a PRIVATE use "patio". I have no idea how this is legal? Due to the little triangle of plants you are only left with the thinner part of the sidewalk to walkthrough. It's the smallest sidewalk on Houston street due to these inconsiderate business owners. I second the lack of exciting news.
I'm afraid you're not up to speed with the transplant universe of nowadays. We could only pray for B&T crowds. We'll gladly take them over the gentris any day. At least they some clue about NYC and it's history.
+1 for the comment about their theft of the rebuilt sidewalk, that always left me grumpy
Please give us that busy sidewalk back. They took it over like it was their private backyard. Such BS.
They had the best pumpkin hummus
Bummer. That place had good food n decent drink prices. Also the servers were friendly. That corner is cursed for business's.
30 years only two restaurants
That’s not cursed . Ten plus years is great
I DO miss Nice Guy Eddie's though. What a great dark hole to day drink that was was...and Rachel was the best bartender with her little chihuahua on the bar. Sigh.
The food here was pretty damn good but it was always ungodly loud and the eating of the sidewalk was egregious. Especially considering nobody ever sat outside
Concur 👍
Man do I miss that KISS mural.
