Who does the programming for the music in Tompkins Square Park? It's pretty narrow in terms of genres, and doesn't really represent the diversity of the neighbourhood.
Maybe I'm just irritated by today's pretty dull stuff while I'm jet lagged, probably better to ignore me...

Get a permit from the Parks Department, pay the fee, bring in sound and book whoever you want for that date. That's what the various promoters and single bands do. I doubt the amplified soloist acts are getting permits but I could be wrong.
