Today (Aug. 16!) marks the 50th anniversary of the first show by the Ramones at CBGB. (Anyone take a ferry ride to Rockaway Beach?)
Fast-forward three short years to the above footage from the Rainbow Theatre in Finsbury Park, London, on Dec. 31, 1977.

Big thank you for posting the Ramones' Rainbow Theater show. Enjoyed every minute of it!
Shame none of the original members are alive to celebrate their first show at CBs. One of the most piss and vinegar bands to ever come out of the woodwork and tour all over the world but still couldn't make a dent in record sales or have a hit single. A lot of credit goes to Hilly Crystal, the owner of CBs,
who started the club and insisted that bands had to play only original material. The rest is history. Fair to say that vibe spread like a uncontrollable virus infecting teenage brains from here to Timbuktu............
