The modest breakfast-and-lunch spot shuttered Saturday. It was one of the few places left where you could still grab two eggs on a roll and a small coffee for under $5 — and be out the door in minutes.
The arrival last spring of the glossier Mayberry Marketplace on the southwest corner of First Avenue and Fourth Street likely didn’t help matters.

The new store on the corner was not the reason. The lovely man who worked there everyday had not been paid for about 3 months. Neither did the cashier. He threatened to call the so the owner, who also owns other stores, abruptly closed the store
Thanks, Mike... that sucks. The grill man was awesome... they were all so friendly. Hope they can find new work somewhere.
Such a big loss, shame on the owner if he did not pay those workers. The main guy was the nicest, worked harder than anyone i know and made the best best best best food. I ate an obscene amount of chicken salad wraps, always liked forward to his food as a treat for the day. Everything he made was good. If someone knows where he is next, let us know here, I'll go.
Agree - the world's nicest guy. +1 if anyone knows where he lands.
I have been devastated about this sudden close. The main guy’s name is Eric and he worked every weekday, weekend, holiday, snowstorm, you name it. So kind and such a hard worker. Would love to support where he is next.
Thanks, Grace... Eric was awesome. I didn't go there that often and somehow he always remembered my usual order... he saw me walk in and say "Same thing?" and I say yes... all before actually ordering with the cashier...
Oh, I’m so sorry to hear this! Everyone there was especially friendly and nice. The food was great, too. How wrong it was to not pay the employees. That makes me angry. I’ll miss them!
