Surf's up for Patagonia on the Bowery

The Patagonia outpost on the Bowery has closed.

The sustainable outdoor brand closed here at 313 Bowery at the end of October. (Other NYC locations, such as on Greene Street and West 14th Street, remain open.) No reason was cited for this closure.

Patagonia opened here in late 2012 as the brand's first East Coast Patagonia Surf Store. They were active with sustainable causes through the years, such as supporting Surfrider, a nonprofit committed to protecting NYC's waterways and coastal communities. They'd also share information from East River Park Action

Previously, the space was a pop-up shop for a rock-inspired clothing line called Andrew Charles created by Andy Hilfiger and Steven Tyler ... and the Morrison Hotel Gallery

And a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...
The space adjacent to CBGB housed the CBGB Record Canteen and, later, the 313 Gallery.

315 Bowery, the former CBGB, remains the John Varvatos outpost.

Is this the warm, fuzzy feeling that you were expecting at 313 Bowery?

We've been wondering what would go into the retail space at 313 Bowery since the Riff pop-up shop closed in May... Now we know, thanks to a scoop over at the Observer: Patagonia. The outdoor clothing and gear store is moving into the two levels of combined 8,100-square-feet of space that once housed the CBGB Record Canteen and, later, the 313 Gallery.

And the quote of the day goes to the leasing executive who said this to the Observer:

“Patagonia loves historic space. 313 was just the perfect location. In the basement there are still the bathrooms from CBGB’s time that are scrawled with all the writing from club-goers over the years.”

Pop-up party is over at Riff on the Bowery

Just catching up on a few items that I didn't get to this past week.

Such as!

Riff, the pop-up store at 313 Bowery, closed last Sunday.

The place opened last October and featured the rock-inspired clothing line called Andrew Charles created by Andy Hilfiger and Steven Tyler... (Tyler performed there during a grand opening last fall.)

In fact, the only thing left in the space is this cutout of Tyler with his daughter Chelsea...

Not sure what's coming here next... the Morrison Hotel Gallery was here for several years..

And, once upon a time ...

There was the CBGB Record Canteen and, later, the 313 Gallery.

313 had been on the market for months...

However, RKF has removed the listing...

Here's the perfect space for the new CBGB

So as Gothamist reported this morning, there's some sort of movement to bring back CBGB.

Let's jut gloss over whether this is even a good idea... If the new CBGB people need a space, here's an option: 313 Bowery, once home to the CBGB Gallery... right next door to CBGB, of course.

The space has been on the market for months. (See the listing here.)

The Morrison Hotel Gallery checked out of 313 Bowery at the end of September. Recently, the space became home to Riff, which sells the rock-and-boa inspired clothing line called Andrew Charles, created in part by Steven Tyler. Apparently, though, that store is only here on a temporary basis.

The lower level can be leased separately, where that secret club was for a bit.

Can you come home again?

Former CBGB Gallery space still on the market

While trolling around the RKF site, we came across a listing (PDF) for 313 Bowery, once home to the CBGB Gallery at 313 Bowery.

Here's the listing... Ohh! And already name-checking André Balazs...
