The rent is due at Dojo Noodle House

Dojo Noodle House has been closed since mid-August here on Avenue B near Third Street. At the time, a sign on the door noted a September return. That never happened.

This past week, the landlord taped some legal documents to the front door for ownership ... with the notice that the restaurant owes some recent base rent and an assortment of legal fees that add up to $18,903.32 ...

The small restaurant opened as Dojo Izakaya in November 2014 and received positive notices. This Dojo was an offshoot of chef David Bouhadana's Sushi Dojo on First Avenue between Sixth Street and Seventh Street. (Bouhadana reportedly parted ways with the Dojo camp the following year.)

Dojo Noodle House closed for now on Avenue B

Dojo Noodle House, which recently changed its name from Dojo Izakaya, went dark earlier this week on Avenue B near Third Street, according to a tipster, who shared these photos...



Someone added a "until September" with a frowny face under the closed sign on the door...



There's no mention of a temporary closure on the restaurant's website. The phone just rings without any recorded outgoing message.

The closed-until-September notice also coincides with the arrival of the space in a retail listing this week (asking rent is $5,800 for 350 square feet).

Dojo Izakaya opened to great fanfare in November 2014. The small space was an offshoot of chef David Bouhadana's Sushi Dojo on First Avenue between Sixth Street and Seventh Street. (Bouhadana reportedly parted ways with the Dojo camp the following year.)

In any event, perhaps the landlord will fix the hole in the sidewalk outside Dojo Noodle House before they reopen...

Dojo Izakaya announces itself on Avenue B

Signage is now up at Dojo Izakaya, which the Post described as "a Japanese gastropub."

It is the latest restaurant from chef David Bouhadana, who opened Sushi Dojo in June 2013 on First Avenue.

No word on an opening date here yet.

Cafe Rakka, the previous tenant here at 38 Avenue B near East Third Street, apparently got Cromanated last November.

The inexpensive long-timer Cafe Rakka got Cromanated last November here near East Third Street.

The inexpensive long-timer Cafe Rakka got Cromanated last November at 38 Avenue B near East Third Street.

And someone called Harvey. Paperwork filed ahead of Tuesday's CB3/SLA committee meeting show that applicants Boris Lidukhover, owner of Sushi Dojo at 110 First Ave., and his chef David Bouhadana (the "twentysomething sushi wunderkind" per Grub Street), want to open Dojo Izakaya in the small space on Avenue B.



The application (PDF!) for a beer-wine license shows a 10-table (19 total seats) configuration ... and a small chef's eating counter. The proposed hours are 5 p.m.-2 a.m. Monday through Sunday.

The materials also include a handwritten sample menu, showing several variations of yakitori as well as grilled pike eel, among other things.



Sushi Dojo opened in June 2013 in the space that previously housed Polonia.
