EVG reader Sonya shared this photo from Avenue B and 14th Street... where there's a chair with the message: "I blame MTV."

As of our press time, it was not immediately clear for what. (If this was, say, 1986, we could go with explicit imagery of Satanism and the minds of our youth!)

"Downtown Girls," MTV's new reality show about a group of friends living and loving on the Lower East Side, debuts tonight on MTV. The Times was unkind to the show in its review. "Someone called Shallon is hung up on a younger guy who lives with his parents in Jersey (yup, Jersey). She asks rhetorical questions as she looks intently at her laptop."

And EV Grieve readers had this to say the last time this show was mentioned hereabouts:

Rhyming and dating

I was reminded it that it's Spring Break for some colleges...a time when students go to warm places and drink and act dumber more than usual. Here's a clip featuring the Beastie Boys from MTV's Spring Break 1987 coverage of the wackiness in Daytona Beach. Back before the Beastie Boys became sensitive and stuff. Try not to cringe.
