Fishing for rodents at the Mystery Lot

Work continues at the Mystery Lot. Next up! Baiting.

This past Thursday the Post confirmed what's coming here — an 82-unit, eight-story development, which should break ground this summer for a late 2013 opening. "Prices are still to be determined for the project’s studio and one-, two- and three-bedroom units," according to the Post.

By the way, with this new building on the way, you'll need to find somewhere else to dump your Christmas holiday trees.

Empellon Cocina now hiring for 'highly anticipated opening'

During the weekend, we saw workers puttering around with a new awning at Empellon Cocina (the former home of Counter), the First Avenue outpost of chef Alex Stupak's West Village Mexican eatery....

...we took a closer look and spotted a hiring sign of sorts...

"This is going to be one of the most highly anticipated openings of 2012 and we have set high standards for ourselves."

Now you know.

Sonar Gaow 'temporarily closed due to a plumbing problem'

That's the sign on the gate outside Sonar Gaow, one of the Indian restaurants on East Sixth Street... Just so happens to coincide with a closure last Thursday via the Department of Health, who handed out 49 violation points for the usual various critters.

This is one of those places that people have complained about for being "dirty" in the past, such as this post from Eater in 2008.

Turns out the Penistrator did taint the first snowfall of the year

Our correspondents kept a watchful eye out for any sign of The Penistrator or various copycats after yesterday's Storm of the Saturday® ... Finally, reports are coming in from the field... on St. Mark's Place between Avenue A and First Avenue...

Looks as if we're in for another long winter.

I originally sent this out via Twitter around 9: 30 or so.

49ers fans already on line outside Finnerty's on Second Avenue. The Post had a feature yesterday about the bar being a Bay Area sports haven.

And a look at last week's line closer to game time....
