Breaking: Penis snow sculpture down by dawn in Tompkins Square Park

The 5-foot snow sculpture of a penis erected during the height of yesterday's blizzard in Tompkins Square Park is gone, as these photos from about 7:20 a.m. today show...

As several observers noted, it doesn't appear as it was knocked down as much as removed. Penis sculpture watchers in the Park this morning note that there weren't many snow chunks lying around the base here closest to the Avenue A and East Ninth Street entrance.

There are a few detailed remains, which show the great care and attention that went into this monument of [whatever you think of sculptured snow penises].

A last look...

Of course this wasn't the first (scroll down) sculpture of a snow penis in Tompkins Square Park ... and it won't be the last. [#profound]

Well, why wouldn't someone erect a 5-foot snow penis during a blizzard in Tompkins Square Park?

Enjoying the first dusting of snow in 2016, almost

[Photo early this morning by Peter Brownscombe]

The light snowfall last evening provided that Dec. 25th holiday feeling (especially given that it was like 75 degrees here this past Dec. 25)...

Tree stands came back in business for the night...

The snow provided a canvas for people to express their feelings for one another...

And made discarded chairs look all the more less discarded...

Of course, being able to enjoy the 1/6th inch of snowfall didn't last long as it became apparent that this snowffiti trend continues on...

...bringing us back to the dark days of 2009 ... and reminding us of the pressures of being a child star...

Doesn't seem as if anything can stop this reckless snowffiti (except maybe more global warming): Even the block housing the 9th Precinct was particularly hard hit...

And this used to be such a nice neighborhood.

As always, there's likely a good explanation for this scene here on East Ninth Street near First Avenue...

Border this: Aspiring Penistrator looking for tri-state dominance, or something

DNAinfo has a cool map thing (as Curbed might call it!) that lets readers/residents use an interactive map to draw where they think their neighborhood's borders are.

Given the debates around the East Village about borders, specifically where Midtown South ends and New York Harbor begins, we're curious to see the results.

Anyway, all good...

EVG reader Tad took a shot at drawing the EV borders. And what did he see upon submitting his outline? For starters, the borders that other readers drew... as well as a very large...

You guys!

We checked a few other neighborhoods, and only noticed the work of a wannabe Penistrator in (or hovering over) the East Village section. (Oh, and the Pac-Man eating Atlantic Avenue.)

Per Tad: "Given the state of our neighborhood, this seems about right."

Developers likely not thrilled by this pop-up rendering on the Bowery

[EVG photo from January]

Well, you know, a 13-story, 30,000 square-foot mixed-use residential development is in the works for 347 Bowery.

And someone, likely just a cheap Penistrator knockoff, saw fit to degrade the renderings on the plywood here at East Third Street by drawing a large [redacted].

Thankfully workers had painted over the offending doodle before any more harm could be done...

Previously on EV Grieve:
The Salvation Army's former East Village Residence will be demolished on the Bowery

Looks like 347 Bowery will be home to a 13-floor mixed-use residential development

The future of 347 Bowery (sorta!) revealed

Just a little bit up Third Avenue near East 19th Street... a snowffiti artist gets testy with the NYPD...

Now even the snowfitti has to have a sponsor

Does all art need a corporate sponsor? Is nothing sacred?

When it snows

Well, we mostly survived the Great Snowstorm of Dec. 8.™

And no snowfall, however light, could go without someone scrawling the outline of a penis on a car. Dave on 7th and others noted an array of crude snowffiti along East Seventh Street and Avenue B and Avenue C...

Well, if this kind of thing will continue to happen (oh, and it will) … then we might as well make it look pretty...

Thanks to Luke on 7th for the above image.

You probably saw this one coming over at the Colonel's place on East 14th Street and Second Avenue... probably would have been more wacky had the person put the R over the S instead of the !

[Updated] The Silence of the Limbs

[East 10th Street via William Klayer]

OK, I wasn't going to post any of these. But my spirit has been broken. Or something. I'm amassing quite a collection of snow dicks, boobs and poop. They're everywhere.

[Montage via EVG reader Julie Larsen]

Heard that East Fifth Street between Second Avenue and Cooper Square remain snow-dick free.

Otherwise, the dusting of snow last night left an array of snowffiti.

[East Sixth Street via EVG reader Billy]

Why?

[East 10th Street via EVG reader Marjorie]

I saw several disgusted residents wiping away the snow parts.

And do we blame NYU?

Pinhead shows that there were positive messages to come out of this as well...

And EVG reader Malin shared this one from all the way over on East 12th Street and Fifth Avenue, where they aren't immune to such hijinks...

Another reader noted that this dickfoolery made it all the over to Washington Square Park...

This morning

If you've been outside this morning, then you've probably noticed that nearly every single car has some sort of snow penis on it. There are reports of attempts at female anatomy as well.

Thank you for the photos. We'll leave you with more pleasant snowscapes ...

Woo-en Commission Report: Snow penis outbreak reaching epidemic proportions in the East Village

All sorts of reports coming in this morning about last night's light snowfall.

Per one reader:

Dicks.. dicks.. every...everywhere.... I can't...Hel...

Then the transmission broke off.

East 13th Street.

East Seventh Street

There are even McSorley's branded snow peepees.

East First Street

East Second Street. Where things just got...ugly.

There are more. But you get the idea.

At some point over the next few months of winter, all of us will entertain our worst fears and concerns. But I can also promise you this. Life will go on. We will prevail.

Donged! Penistrator proves that he doesn't need any stupid snow

Just noting some sidewalk work here on East 10th Street between Third Avenue and Fourth Avenue where that ugly new renovated building sits... and...

Oh no! A permanent sidewalk penis!

Look for a new sidewalk here soon...

[Updated] Hard up for attention, Penistrator imitator strikes on slow news weekend

EVG regular Spike was out enjoying the quiet, picturesque snowfall last night when he came upon this ...

The Penistrator Imitator left this one on East Second Street between First Avenue and Second Avenue. There's never just one. Dicks never travel alone. Anyone else spot one this x-rated snowffiti?
