Marketers at McDonald's Germany think of us as cappuccino cupcakes

I spotted this doozy at Eater National. As they report, "McDonald’s Germany has just introduced cupcakes inspired by four different neighborhoods in New York City. Each ad features a Manhattanite from each 'hood explaining why the cupcake is characteristic of where they live."

And Eater used Google translator to translate the ads... here's the East Village representative: "Here come from the most famous artists in New York. And here in dozens of tourists looking for new art galleries. I now play Andy Warhol once and tell everything what I like to art. This cappuccino cup cake = for example: all great art."

McDonald's in Germany is here.

Rev. Billy arrested at Astor Place

Two weeks ago, there were multiple reports of the coal mountain mud left at the Chase branch at 10th Street and Second Avenue ... Rev. Billy & the Church of Life After Shopping, complete with the makings for another coal mountain, were holding protests last evening at the Chase branches at St. Mark's Place and Second Avenue and on Astor Place... according to readers R and M, Rev. Billy was arrested at Astor Place, as their photos show...

So, in the last few days, the 9th Precinct has arrested Rev. Billy and the chef of Pulino's... hmmm....

Bombing the Domino Sugar Refinery

The Graffiti Friend of EV Grieve (GFOEVG) passed along a link from north of the Williamsburg Bridge... As The Street Spot noted this past Friday, the Domino Sugar Refinery was bombed last week in epic fashion...

Why Pulino's chef Nate Appleman was arrested

According to Page Six today:

Nate Appleman, chef at Keith McNally's new Bowery hotspot Pulino's, got arrested Wednesday afternoon in the East Village. Appleman, who is covered in tattoos but stands barely 5-foot-8, was heading home from the pizza restaurant between shifts when cops spotted a chain running from his belt into a pocket. "It's a pocket knife that's two inches long that I used to cut boxes at work," Appleman told us. "I've collected knives since I was a kid. My mother gives me a knife every year on my birthday. This knife is the one she got me this year." After three police cars surrounded him, Appleman was taken to the 9th Precinct and charged with weapons possession. He was released two hours later and is due in court on April 27.

Baseball tonight: Yankees-Red Sox rivalry brewing on Second Avenue?

As baseball fans gear up for the season opener tonight between the Yankees and Red Sox... Finnerty's on Second Avenue near 14th Street put up a large Yankees logo Friday...

...which is next door to the EV home of the Red Sox, Professor Thom's...

We asked Chris at Professor Thom's if they would let this stand...

"I saw that Friday when they were painting it. Rather big, huh? We won't be going that far -- our rep is very public already. But, look for a line down the sidewalk dividing the two fan bases."

You'll need to get your ham burrito elsewhere today

Pillow talk

From the EV Grieve inbox...maybe more of a warning...

New York City's 5th annual, and the world's 3rd annual Pillow Fight Day!

Pillows fly and teddies soar as you converge for a giant urban pillow fight! Swing and whack as you evade pillow-wielding assailants. Bring a soft pillow and wait for the signal. Pillow fight!

Rules: Please follow these guidelines to ensure a safe and fun pillow fight for everybody!

+ Soft, feather-free pillows only!
+ Swing lightly, many people will be swinging at once.
+ Do not swing at people without pillows or with cameras.
+ Remove glasses beforehand!
+ Deposit pillows in donation boxes or take them with you.
+ Pajamas welcome.

Cleanup: Please eliminate your use of feathers. As the pillow fight grows in size, so does the mess. By participating, you are pledging to clean up twice the mess you made :)

This year, pillows will be collected and donated to a midtown no-kill animal shelter to make bedding for rescued dogs and cats.

According to Facebook, "This event has 16,844 confirmed guests." I hope this is worldwide and not just NYC...

And Cooper Square Hotel guests get this street fair as an added bonus for staying here this weekend...

If you're away, then don't fret... the same vendors will be here 458 more times by summer's end...
