As for the movie, it's Better off Dead. An American classic. (Oh, c'mon -- just give me this one...)

I love "Better off Dead". Had a crush on that French tourist girl in the film. They don't make quirky teen flicks like this anymore. Nowadays, instead, we get slasher films, or a movie spoofs of the box office hits, aimed at the teen audience.
In general, compared to what they were producing in the 80's, like the John Hughes' movies. Better Off Dead is one of those underrated cultish black comedy films, like Heathers.
I think what you are recalling is your childhood my friend. You must know that in 20 years, kids of today will be saying that they don't make movies like Superbad anymore. There were plenty of shit movies in the 80s, like Another 48 Hours and Beverly Hills Cop 2.
Here, you'll find things that you may or may not be interested in about the East Village and other parts of New York City. Appreciating what's here while it's still here. Remembering what's no longer here. Wishing some things weren't here that are here.

Apples and oranges, friend. No need to get offended and confrontational.
How exactly is my statement confrontational? I think you have probably see confrontation in many things where there is none.
