Tacos Morelos now open on East Ninth Street

As we first reported back on June 24, food-cart favorite Tacos Moreles is opening a restaurant at the former Empanadas Bar on East Ninth Street ... One of our Facebook friends just let us know that they are now open as of today...

Tacos Moreles, which currently has the delicious food cart over on Avenue A and East Second Street, is opening a restaurant at the former Empanadas Bar on East Ninth Street, as we first noted on June 24.

Anyway, the folks at WINESHOP sent along the photo of workers putting up the sign this afternoon ... and given the "bar" on the sign, it looks as if they will be serving beer like the Empanadas Bar ...

We hear that they will be looking to open in the next week, 10 days...

On East 9th Street, Tacos Morelos taking over Empanadas Bar space

The Empanadas Bar that took over the former Itzocan Café space on East Ninth Street has closed ...

...and the sign on the door notes that the Queens-based Tacos Morelos, which serves delicious food from the cart on Second Street and Avenue A, will be moving in soon...

No word on if this means the end of the cart on Second and A... (hopefully not...)

Oops. Meant to note this earlier. Did anyone see them Friday or Saturday? The cart was out of commission last week while the Taco Morelos folks waited for a new permit or something.

That's what a reader asked the other night after discovering the food-cart favorite was not at its usual outpost on Second Street and Avenue A...

We noticed it during this past weekend... Anyway, the delivery bike is still there...

We talked with someone at the Jackson Heights outpost ... and he explained that they just had some paperwork to take care of regarding the cart (kinda paraphrasing here, and it's nothing serious — just routine paperwork) ... and he expected to have the cart back tonight or tomorrow morning...

There are now two carts for Taco Morelos on Avenue A

To be honest, I meant to note this much sooner... several readers have mentioned this in the last week... Anyway! Aside from Second Street at Avenue A...

...there's another Tacos Morelos cart on Avenue A at Sixth Street...
