As you may have heard late last night,
David Bowie has died. He was 69.
Here's one local connection. "Lazarus," which has been playing at
the New York Theatre Workshop on East Fourth Street since Nov. 18, features songs that Bowie specially composed for the production as well as new arrangements of previously recorded songs.
"Lazarus," inspired by the 1963 novel "The Man Who Fell to Earth" by Walter Tevis, centers on the character of Thomas Newton (
Michael C. Hall), which Bowie played in
the 1976 film version. Bowie also co-wrote the adaptation with Enda Walsh.
The production is sold out through Jan. 19. There are tickets available for the previously announced final performance on Jan. 20, which is also a benefit for the theater. Tickets are $2,500 and $1,000. Details
