After just four months, it appears Panache Cafe has called it on day on Avenue B between 11th Street and 12th Street...
Did anyone ever go in here? I never saw a soul inside, except for rather glum looking workers...

Recent ghost signage on Avenue B
A reader pointed out signage on Avenue B between 11th Street and 12th Street for the Little Bird Bakery and Coffeehouse. This is actually not the new tenant moving into the space, but the name of the business that had the space from June 2010 to January 2011.
Y Cafe eventually moved into the storefront at 182 Avenue B ... closing in March after nearly eight years of service.
Little Bird, a vegan cafe, was a nice spot but it only lasted those six months. Before that there was the short-lived Panache Cafe and Cafe de Nova.
The reader noted activity inside the space in recent weeks. The for-rent sign has also been removed.

New vegan cafe for Avenue B
A new vegan cafe called The Little Bird opened last Wednesday on Avenue B near 11th Street (at the former Panache Cafe)...
I asked proprietor Joanna Troccoli via e-mail what people can expect here...
"As for now it is just the vegan baked treats, coffee and teas. I make everything in the back. All the cookies, granola, and treats are vegan."
This is the first commercial outlet for Troccoli, who runs The Little Bird with her sister and brother-in-law. "But I have been wholesaling the cookies to local stores like Earth Matters, Liquiteria, Jack's Coffee, Gimme! Coffee and Kula Yoga."
She'll expand the menu in the coming weeks to include small plates of vegan fare. "We are also working on getting a beer and wine license to serve ORGANIC beer and wine," she said. "But that is in the future!"

The Little Bird closes
The Little Bird, the vegan cafe that opened on Avenue B near 11th Street last June, appears to be shuttered. The phone has been disconnected. We contacted one of the owners via e-mail, though haven't heard back. This is seemingly a tough space to make work. The previous tenant, Panache Cafe, lasted just four months. And before this, Cafe de Nova.
Maybe it's — in part — the competition... you have B Cup Café on the corner of 13th Street... and Ninth Street Espresso around the corner on 10th Street (and not to mention their location on Ninth Street and Avenue C...).

Avenue B to get a little Panache
Last Friday, I mentioned there's a new "eating/drinking establishment" coming to 182 Avenue B at the former home of the Cafe de Nova.
And like that, a new sign appears...meet Panache Cafe (some day).

Panache Cafe now open minus the Megan Fox
Looks to have a Moroccan theme...
I was hoping they'd leave up the newspaper with the Megan Fox feature.
