Photos from Salim (top pic!) and John Tymkiw (pic below) show some tools and signs of pending construction inside the long-vacant storefront...
Benny's closed here on Nov. 29, 2014, after 27 years in business. The prime corner space has sat empty since then. At least one prospective tenant kicked the tires on the space in 2017. (The Benny's to-go spot next door, which closed in February 2015, is now the 99¢ pizza place called 99¢ Pizza.)
Will we finally see a new tenant here? Or will the Benny's Museum shutter again for another six months?

Everything is so muddled now. Don't know who's coming or wh's going.
There was an old Benny's takeout menu plastered on the window last time I looked (summer 2021)
I miss this place!
BRING BACK BENNYS BURRITOS
It is about time they did something with that space. It has been vacant for too long and it is in a prime corner spot. I just hope something good goes there and not another ramen noodle or bubble gum tea shop. I miss Benny's and the great Mexican food they served.
Coming Soon: Superiority Burger jr.

Meh. Bring back Harry's on 7th st.
Just don't displace 7th st burger!
Continue and will always miss Benny's.
Watch, it’ll be another theme bar: Tommy’s Tequilla Hut
Era bygone. This will become a fusion restaurant with sushi and bubble tea.
