Yesterday, two East Village residents celebrated their anniversary at the chess tables near the Seventh Street and Avenue A entrance to Tompkins Square Park.
To mark the occasion, one surprised the other with a handmade chess set, sculpting each piece from clay and giving the game a distinctly personal touch.
