It's Record Store Day, June edition (and record store appreciation day always)

Today (Saturday, June 18!) is part 2 of Record Store Day 2022... the pandemic and vinyl supply-chain issues caused some titles to be pushed back from their original release date.

So here we are. There are new titles out today. Not sure how each of our local shops might be celebrating the day. Limited to One at 221 E. 10th St. will have some crate-digging opps with a handful of rare and out-of-print vinyl as well as some ticket giveaways "and who knows what else." (!!!) The shop opens at 11 a.m.

Here's a list of EV record stores...

Happy Record Store Day (and Always Support Your Local Record Store Day)

Today is the first of two Record Store Days set for this summer (the other being on July 17).

You can find some RSD titles at a few of the local shops ... or you can pay them a visit anyway at your leisure...

• A-1 Record Shop — 439 E. Sixth St. between Avenue A and First Avenue

• Academy Records — 415 E. 12th St. between Avenue A and First Avenue

• Limited to One Records — 221 E. 10th St. between First Avenue and Second Avenue

• Manhattan45 — 220 E. 10th St. between First Avenue and Second Avenue

• Stranded Records — 218 E. Fifth St. between Second Avenue and Cooper Square

And a special shout-out to Downtown Music Gallery, which celebrated its 30th anniversary last month. The shop got its start in the East Village, first on Fifth Street then the Bowery. Find them now at 13 Monroe St. in Chinatown.

Academy Records is back open (and happy Record Store Day)

Academy Records reopened yesterday here at 415 E. 12th St. between Avenue A and First Avenue. (Owner Mike Davis had been buying and selling via Instagram throughout the summer.)

They sectioned off the shop into a smaller version of itself (you can see in the video clip below)... while "putting the best stuff out," including some new releases, reissues and best sellers.

Also, masks are mandatory... and there's hand sanitizer at the door... as well as some disposable gloves. For now, the shop will just let three people in at a time.

... and a look inside the shop...

Today is also the makeup date for Record Store Day.

You can check out what Stranded Records, 218 E. Fifth St. between Second Avenue and Cooper Square, and Limited to One Records, 221 E. 10th St. between First Avenue and Second Avenue, might be offering. (Ditto for Manhattan45, which recently opened at 220 E. 10th St. between First Avenue and Second Avenue.)

A-1 Record Shop, 439 E. Sixth St. between Avenue A and First Avenue, has been offering curbside pickup this month.

Sadly, Turntable Lab's storefront on 10th Street won't be taking part. However, they have online exclusives.
