EV Grieve Summer Movie Preview: The Smurfs 2 in 3-D; they didn't have the balls to return to film here

[Spotted yesterday at the Loews Village 7 on Third Avenue]

OK, truth is, we had no idea that there was a Smurfs sequel. But, as you will recall doubtlessly, the Smurfs were the talk of the neighborhood back in the heady days of the spring of 2010. Crews filmed several scenes here. After the shoot, the cast lingered, pulling some Bynes-like shit and we all had to get 311 on them.

Flashback!

Anyway, for Part 2 in 3-D, these little fuckers the Smurfs (Smurfs'?) action is based in Paris (France).

And on an actual serious note, Part Deux marks the last film for the great Jonathan Winters, who died on April 11. He supplied the voice for Papa Smurf.

City officials further shame NYC by declaring Smurf Week

Our friend Jen Doll over at Runnin' Scared has the details about Smurf Week. Which city officials announced yesterday. It's all a big marketing thingee leading up to the release next Friday of "The Smurfs Movie," the latest Dogme 95 film by Lars von Trier.

Anyway, is this a big deal? Those little fuckers have been running rampant here the last few months anyway...

Demolition Smurf, apparently

EV Grieve readers are helping to crack this case: who is responsible for leaving the C-4 here? And everyone here seems to be taking this rather seriously:

Hipsters. They were half way through building their bombs and suddenly lost interest. They were all like, whatevs, shrugged their shoulders, and walked away.

I think it was EV Lambo. Dumped the junk from her trunk and vroom, off she sailed. Notice how she's been keeping a low profile lately?

Sarah Connor left it there in hopes that her son, John, could use it to fight the machines in the future.

There were also some actual plausible explanations there too.

The agony and the Ecstasy: A report from the EV Grieve Eau Claire Bureau

A story from May 13... though relevant given "The Smurfs Movie" is filming here now... and, well...

A 16-year-old boy was charged Wednesday in adult court in Clark County with four drug-related felonies, including selling Ecstasy in tablet form of cartoon characters Papa Smurf and Homer Simpson.

Your vehicle may be towed tonight to make way for a Smurf or two

So as you likely know, "The Smurfs Movie" is back tomorrow ... setting up for 39 hours for that 13-second scene ... Anyway, will any bosses be getting a call like this tomorrow, "Yeah, I'm going to be a little late today. I need to pick up my car at the impound lot. It was towed for The Smurfs Movie. Yes, Smurfs..."

The Smurfs are coming back to the East Village! The Smurfs are coming back to the East Village! The Smurfs are coming back to the East Village!

On Monday, May 24. Thanks for the heads up so that I have time to make more of these!

We hear that the storylines will include... Gutsy Smurf walking into Nevada Smith's on Day 1 of the World Cup and asking if they'll turn on the replay of the previous evening's Mets game... Smurfette getting drunk and talking louder and faster whenever she steps outside Heathers for a cigarette break ... and Grouchy Smurf starting a blog...
