The Wafels & Dinges café is now open on Avenue B

The first Wafels & Dinges outpost is now open on Avenue B and East Second Street... the café is based on the same concept as the popular food trucks in circulation around the city ...

W&D founder Thomas DeGeest, an East Village resident, told us back in January that the store was "progressing at turtle speed." He also noted that it "will be as much a good coffee place as a waffle and ice cream place."

Several readers have pointed out the recent arrive of neon signage at the incoming Wafels & Dinges on Avenue B and East Second Street... W&D founder Thomas DeGeest, an East Village resident, told us that he doesn't have an exact opening date yet ... "It's definitely gonna be June," he told us.

Entrez Bar & Grill opened on Second Avenue last fall... and it has randomly, quickly been converted into a hookah bar called Farfasha ...

Pinalito City closed for renovations in April, as BoweryBoogie reported. Anyway, still under renovation... just noting the Chico plywood now here on East Houston and Clinton...

Pho 32 and Shabu recently closed at 13 St. Mark's Place... and something called Pan is taking its place very soon... no details on this just yet.

As we've been reporting, Wafels & Dinges is opening its first café based on the same concept as the popular food trucks in circulation around the city .... here on Avenue B and East Second Street... as you can see in the photo, there's a bit of a teaser up on the windows: "The dinges are coming."

W&D founder Thomas DeGeest, an East Village resident, told us back in January that the store was "progressing at turtle speed" and he was eyeing a spring opening date.

He also noted that it "will be as much a good coffee place as a waffle and ice cream place."

Last April 4, we first reported that Wafels & Dinges will open its first café based on the same concept as the popular food trucks in circulation around the city... W&D founder Thomas DeGeest, an East Village resident, provided a brief update on the storefront on Avenue B and East Second Street.

"Our store is progressing at turtle speed. I'm hoping for March or April," he said via a Facebook message. "Building trucks is definitely easier."

He also noted that it "will be as much a good coffee place as a waffle and ice cream place."

And no frozen yogurt.
