The Post discovers that the area around Bowery and Bond is pretty nice these days — and getting nicer!

The cover story of the Post's real-estate section this week features the area around Bond and Bowery, which, from here on out, we'll refer to as BowBo to see if it foolishly catches on...
Give me a B!.... Gimme an O....

Seriously, though, we first meet Adam Gordon, who says, “As a developer, I really have a passion for reclaiming historic properties."

Anyway, let's just keep on reading!

This corridor [of Bowery] has the most excitement in all of Manhattan — if you’re talking about the space between the New Museum and Cooper Square,” says Gordon.
I think the Bowery — more than any neighborhood in Manhattan over the last five years — has become the most evolved,” says Core CEO Shaun Osher. “It’s become one of the trendiest neighborhoods in the city, but what’s really great about the Bowery is it’s multi-dimensional in its evolution.”
The term “multi-dimensional” makes sense not just in terms of the architecture, but also in terms of everything else that’s come to the neighborhood.
“I used to have a restaurant around here 10 years ago,” says celebrity chef Scott Conant, referring to City Eatery, his Italian spot on Bleecker and Bowery. “I was a little spooked by the neighborhood . . . I was never going to do another restaurant around here.”

The features includes the handiest of handy-dandy maps...

How soon before this how map is just a cluster of red circles with numbers?

I smell dead people

I've had some horrible neighbors...nothing quite like this, though. As the Post reports:

It smells like something at 201 E. 19th St., and it sure isn't Christmas.
The Missionary Sisters of Sacred Heart are suing two tenants in the Gramercy building who they say are creating an ungodly stench that's making their neighbors sick.
Gloria and Michael Lim have "caused noxious, foul and harmful odors to emanate from the [apartment] into the common areas of the subject building as well into other apartments," the nuns' suit says.
"The smells emanating from the subject premises are so horrible and potentially dangerous to the life, health and safety of the tenants" that "on one occasion the Fire Department . . . had to be called."
The odor on that occasion from the apartment was so awful that building workers had become "seriously concerned that the smell was the result of someone having died in their apartment and began ringing certain tenants who live alone to check in on them," the filing says.
When all those people were determined to be still kicking, the concerned firefighters zeroed in on the Lims' apartment, convinced the dead-person smell was coming from there.
They pounded on the door and when they got no answer, they started to break it down, the suit says. Gloria Lim eventually came to the door and asked what the "commotion" was, the suit says.
The firefighters entered the apartment, and Lim told them she was "smoking and drying fish."
When asked by The Post what caused the odors -- which court papers likened to "vomit or rotting meat" -- she only said: "I cook dried fish."

Ugh. The worst thing my neighbor does is play the one disco-y CD he owns over and over....

Bar Show hopping

Unfortunately, I'm away this weekend. Otherwise, I'd be hitting the Javits Center for The Bar Show 08. As the site says, "The Bar Show is the Only Trade Show specifically for Professionals representing the Bar, Nightclub, Restaurant, and Liquor Store Industry. The Bar Show means business!"

Well, I'm not in the bar business. But! I love going to bars! I'm certain the ownership from all my favorite neighborhood places will be going...to learn the latest ways to dazzle me with laser-light shows, interactive ads and Port-O-Pong! It will make getting drunk even more delicious! And entertaining!

So what will be going on during the convention?

Big Apple Showdown-Flair Bartending Competition - This show will be presented both days on the Main Stage and will feature participants from all over the world who will demonstrate the wildest bottle flipping, shaker spinning and glass tossing on the planet.

DJ CHEF Spinnin' the Beats While Cookin' the Treats. DJ CHEF is the only entertainer who simultaneously cooks & dejays for special events around the globe.

Port-O-Pong Tournaments!

Plus, there's the exhibit hall. This caught my attention:

FogScreen is currently working with bars and nightclubs to help them promote and advertise brands in a never before seen way. Consumers can now interact and walk through ads, providing advertisers with endless possibilities for engaging audiences.

Hmm, interesting! I don't understand this whatsoever!

Meanwhile, to get in the proper mood:
