Here's the trailer for the new Coen Brothers movie, filmed in part in the East Village
As you may recall, the Coen Brothers shot parts of their next movie, "Inside Llyewn Davis," around the neighborhood last February and March. (See all of our posts and photos here.)
[Last February!]
East Ninth Street between Avenue A and First Avenue was dressed up to recreate the Greenwich Village of the 1960s.
The movie follows a protagonist loosely based on singer Dave Van Ronk, a friend of Bob Dylan’s. Oscar Isaac stars as the title character while Justin Timberlake co-stars as another folk musician. Carey Mulligan and John Goodman are also in the film.
As Slate noted today, the film doesn't have a release date yet.
Thanks to @RTSNYC for the tip.

Coen Brothers are back; plus a prop remains
Oh, the Coen Brothers and friends are back nearby to film "Inside Llewyn Davis" ... today along Bleecker Street ...
And we meant to note this after the first visit from the Coens, when they filmed on East Ninth Street on Feb. 17 ... here's how the block looked to help recreated the Greenwich Village of the 1960s...
[Bobby Williams]
Apparently the folks at Enchantments decided to keep the prop awning...

David Schwimmer vs. The Coen Brothers on East Sixth Street
Been a busy few days on East Sixth Street between Second Avenue and First Avenue... The Coen Brothers are back filming "Inside Llewyn Davis." The trucks and all that are parked along East Sixth Street. (The crew seems to be filming inside 110 Second Ave.)
[Yesterday, by Bobby Williams]
Meanwhile, construction continues at Chez Schwimm... where the pallets of cinder blocks await ....
[Early this morning, via EVG]
After the various work crews arrived today for their respective jobs, a resident along here noted, "The street is practically nonexistent as the Haddad's vans (where is Justin Timberlake?) are taking over from the Schwimmer cranes, making it impossible for [the construction workers] to close the street at will, as they often do – for deliveries, etc."
The Coen Brothers crew will also be filming tomorrow, then the street can be returned to the Schwimmers.

The Coen Brothers returning to the East Village
People seemed to enjoy their company last time (aka, a few weeks ago) ... the "Inside Llewyn Davis" crew is filming Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday... on parts of Second Avenue between Sixth Street and Ninth Street ... and Sixth and Seventh Street between First Avenue and Second Avenue...
The tow truckers will start towing Sunday night for all this...
And a recap: The film follows a protagonist loosely based on singer Dave Van Ronk, a friend of Bob Dylan’s. Oscar Isaac stars as the title character while Justin Timberlake co-stars as another folk musician. Carey Mulligan and John Goodman are also in the film.

First look at Gaslight Poetry Club, opening tomorrow on East Ninth Street
Several tipsters were surprised to see the sudden arrival late yesterday of signage for something called "Gaslight Poetry Club" on East Ninth Street between Avenue A and First Avenue.
"I don't like the look of this at all," confided one tipster. "Anything with 'gas' in the name sounds dangerous, like gasoline or gastritis."
Another resident wondered what the arrival of poets might do to property values.
We checked with the CB3, the State Liquor Authority and the DOB and couldn't find any permits for the establishment.
The proprietor of Gaslight, who declined to give his name, told us that his cafe would welcome "dope addicts, free-love cultists — anyone who loathes hypocrisy."
Eh. OK. Boo.
The work is all part of the pre-production for tomorrow's shoot for the new Cohen Brothers movie, "Inside Llewyn Davis." Parts of East Ninth Street will be dressed to look more in tune with the film's 1960s setting. The film follows a protagonist loosely based on singer Dave Van Ronk, a friend of Bob Dylan’s. Oscar Isaac stars as the title character while Justin Timberlake co-stars as another folk musician. Carey Mulligan and John Goodman are also in the film.
Bobby Williams took a few more shots earlier yesterday...

Coen Brothers Week begins here tomorrow
Back on Feb. 4, we noted that the Coen Brothers will be filming the 1960s period piece "Inside Llewyn Davis" in the neighborhood ... Tomorrow, they'll be filming in and around First Street and Second Street ... between Second Avenue and Avenue A...
They'll be towing your ass starting tonight at 8. (Important to note in case you are driving around here for a Valentine's Day Night dinner.)
Anyway ... The movie follows a protagonist loosely based on singer Dave Van Ronk, a friend of Bob Dylan’s. Oscar Isaac stars as the title character while Justin Timberlake co-stars as another folk musician. Carey Mulligan and John Goodman are also in the film.
Thursday should be a more interesting day foracting as if you don't give a shit gawking. The production crew will "temporarily dress several storefronts and buildings" to fit the period on East Ninth Street between Avenue A and First Avenue.
Reps at Zi Pep on East Ninth Street told Grub Street that "the entire block ... will be transformed into the sixties Village [and] ... The Southern Italian restaurant will be made over as a folk club."
Last time a film crew needed someplace to serve as a 1960s-style Greenwich Village club for a shoot, Sophie's heeded the call for "Greetings From Tim Buckley."

Prepping East Ninth Street to make to look like it did, oh, 40-plus years ago...
Speaking of the Coen Brothers... Bobby Williams notes that various carpenters and crew members started the transformation of East Ninth Street in advance of Thursday's shoot here for the 1960s period piece "Inside Llewyn Davis."
Whatever you think abut the Coen Brothers (have you watched "Blood Simple" lately?) ... it brings back some film-shoot cred around here after "The Smurfs" and "Step Up 3D."

The Coen Brothers want to dress up East Ninth Street
The Coen Brothers are ready to film the 1960s period piece "Inside Llewyn Davis," and they need your help. As you can see from the flyers that the crew posted yesterday, the production would like to request permission "to temporarily dress several storefronts and buildings" to fit the period here on East Ninth Street.
Per On Locations: "The movie follows a protagonist loosely based on singer Dave Van Ronk, a friend of Bob Dylan’s. Oscar Isaac stars as the title character while Justin Timberlake co-stars as another folk musician, his wife will be played by Carey Mulligan, and John Goodman will play a jazz musician who takes a road trip with Davis."
The crew will film on Feb. 16 from 1 p.m. to 2 a.m. Expect the color-coded Justin Timberlake sighting-level system to be on Red all that day and night.
