around 9pm there were fire trucks on second avenue, below 10th street.

Yeah, I live on the block- talked to one of the firemen- he said that there was a small apartment fire in one of the buildings on the north east side of the street (where the bucket is, I guess.) No major structural damage, but they did seem to bring out the whole fleet for the thing! (six foot guys storming into Mermaid Inn with hatchets during dinner time on a holiday Saturday? Priceless.)
