Thanks to jdx for these photos. Witnesses said the fire started around 7:30-7:40... It was under control by 8... The fire was between Second Street and Third Street. Previously.
I was driving up First Ave just as FDNY was getting there. Only Ladder Co 11 was there but you could hear more equipment on the way. I posted a few lousy Twitpics on Twitter (hard to drive and take picts at same time). See @mitski if you like.
