I can't tell you how much I love this blog. I was born and raised in Alphabet City from the 60's thru the 8o's. Although I moved away some years back I still consider it my home and your page really brings me back. Thanks!
I love that with all our advancement, at points we might as well be living in a third world country. That photo with the snow on the platform is pathetic. No MTA worker could shovel the snow onto the track? Takes a couple of minutes and does the system no harm. Yet there it is, a friggin snow bank on a subway platform. Nice.
I've been worrying about the mess that the city has become due to the snow. I've the attitude that we knew it was coming up the coast well before it hit. Talking to the bus divers hanging with their stranded vehicles. Turns out, sanitation is responsible for snow removal - yep in the subways too - 30% layoff this year. Currently, they are probably hiring seasonal workers.

We love tips
Have a story idea or tip about something happening in the East Village? Or maybe a photo? Or several photos? Or video! We'd love to hear about it. Or see it. Or something. Please go here to submit a tip.
By the way
Here, you'll find things that you may or may not be interested in about the East Village and other parts of New York City. Appreciating what's here while it's still here. Remembering what's no longer here. Wishing some things weren't here that are here.

Not to mention its friggin dangerous having all that slushiness where people are forced to exit trains.
