Doing the things a particle can

East Village-based singer-songwriter Kid Bowery dropped a new song today.

Per the artist, "Devolver" is "a bit of sleaze-folk psychedelia reminiscent of Elephant 6 bands like Olivia Tremor Control..."

Check it out...

In Spanish Devolver means to return something. Is there a significance to it being used in the title?

Hi Anonymous - Yeah, very much so! Returning to our origin, albeit, in a most extreme and abstracted fashion, is what the song's about. It was inspired by an environmental tragedy that my friend Craig witnessed. Some idiot near to where he lives in the Northwest dumped bleach into a river just for kicks and succeeded in permanently wiping out the local salmon population. We both agreed that humans have a tendency to be the worst species sometimes, and we ought to all just turn back into single-celled organisms. This is not an original notion, as fans of the band Devo will attest, but I'd like to think it's original here in its execution. Btw, i just realized that in Spanish there's the verbs 'devolver' and 'volver,' but no 'evolver' (least, not that I know of?). Noun-wise I like that the title messes a bit w that of a well known Beatles album ;-)
