According to social media posts, the landlord is not renewing the lease for Jo Laurie, a longtime East Village resident who has had the space since 1988.
Laurie operates a full-service architectural company and, in the fall of 2021, converted part of the design studio into a retail store.
Her company is registered as a B-Corp, which allows her to distribute 8% of pre-tax profit to provide health and welfare benefits to women who manufacture her products.
