Based on what we've been told and what appears in the clip, the current narrative is that the SUV either clipped a skateboarder or came very close. The skateboarder then struck the vehicle twice with his board, prompting the driver to (eventually) stop, get out, and confront him.
Witnesses tell us passersby eventually separated the two. We haven't heard of any injuries or police involvement.
Analysts give the edge to the skateboarder, who proves to be quite dextrous at getting the board away from the driver.

Scary and disturbing on many levels. Most important no one should be physically fighting/attacking.
However for disclosure- was hit by a skateboarder who went through a red light. Luckily my partner caught me.
There were no cars on the street at the time

That’s not totally true. They were warning him to let go once it got serious, and the big asked if the guy in the chokehold wanted help (or at least I thought that was what I heard).

Many men lack emotional regulation. Physical violence is the last thing one should resort to. As a fit, 50 year old man, I've walked away from confrontations throughout my life from other males in various settings while they were in the wrong. It is simply not worth being severely injured or arrested. Think about your family and career. Take a minute to breathe in and out. Everything we seem to do is being filmed for streaming content. Do you want to lose everything over a stupid fight? Ego, pride and entitlement are what drives most. I am curious what happened afterwards. And yes, instead of filming, why not help to deescalate the situation by trying to react in a calm manner.
As opposed to what? Standing around and not recording it? Or should passers-by jump into the fray? This isn’t some old lady getting mugged, it’s two semi-grown-ass men scuffling.

All the street encounters I have seen like this have been started by young guys driving fancy vehicles with girlfriends. Every single time.

A really ugly and disturbing video. We don't know what happened before skateboarder started damaging the car but he clearly wasn't knocked over or otherwise injured. I understand being scared and angry and wanting to lash out but there's no excuse for this kind of violence. And the driver only made it worse -- but I hope he follows up with the police. The skater's lack of emotional regulation is dangerous to others.
Hegseth would have dropped a bomb on Saint Marks Place. Then he would have stopped in at the nearest bar ( many to choose from! ) and gotten drunk.
I doubt that guy is rich just because he has an older Mercedes SUV. In USA Dealers do not check your income when you buy a new car they only check credit history.
The guy in an SUV should have never come out of the car. Just look at their body types. One is likely unemployed skater that works out all day the other is a tech/office worker that works out behind a computer all day and has pencil thin legs and arms.

These guys are both punks who don't know how to fight. That's obvious. The passersby can be forgiven for not intervening tho bc it's not their job to police St. Mark's. But it would be nice if some of the bigger guys pulled them apart before it escalated further. Nowadays you can be sued for anything though or it can turn in to some ridiculous Daniel Penny political bullshit. So I can't blame them for not doing it.

What do you want people to do? Guarantee you wouldn't have done a thing either. Why put ourselves at risk because two grown ups can't control their emotion? How do you know someone doesn't have a gun or a knife? I'm not putting my life on the line because someone can't control their anger. Damn well know you wouldn't either.
He smashed his windshield and damaged his car. Driver should have recorded him and the damaged car and filed a report.
