A 6-story Basquiat mural is taking shape on the Bowery

A nearly six-floor-tall mural of Jean-Michel Basquiat is in the works on the SW corner of the Bowery at Great Jones.

This work-in-progress is still in the outline phase. On the lift: Owen Dippie, a New Zealand-based street artist.

At the time of his death in 1988, Basquiat lived two buildings to the west at 57 Great Jones St.

Nice! His work is incredible (and hyper realistic).

Uhm, Basquiat's work is definitely NOT hyper realistic.

Looking forward to the mural and also curious who's paying for it? Grieve? any Intel?
Very happy that art is going up on that beautiful wall!

Someone should do a Peter Max mural. Make elegance great again, not to mention peace. love, humanity, generosity, and visual brilliance.

The mural artist, Owen Dippie, is known for work that is hyper realistic.
