Tuesday's parting shot

An in-progress look today at the nearly six-story-tall mural of Jean-Michel Basquiat on the SW corner of the Bowery at Great Jones.

The artist is the New Zealand-based Owen Dippie.

At the time of his death in 1988, Basquiat lived two buildings to the west at 57 Great Jones St.

Haven’t seen it in person,
But from this photo
seems it would look pretty cool if it was left just like this.

This is starting to look incredible ❤️

Looks incredibly boring. I'd much rather have a mural of the great Peter Max who recently passed. Superbly talented, possibly the first peace and love artist whose humanist message unfortunately was never fully realized.

All true. He was extremely influential too.

Yes Peter Max was a great artist and his art was part of the '60's counterculture but he never lived in the East Village..
