Things to look forward to today! Seven inches of rain?!

Yikes. Per The Wall Street Journal. (Note to self: When did I start getting my weather news from the Journal?)

Also! If you're you're out and about today, then I'd welcome any photos that you might have of this apocalypse. (And this includes photos of the new Papa John's on First Avenue.)

So I'll post weather photos like this... but, uh, better. (Don't worry — it's mine, so I can be mean about it.)

Meanwhile, something to listen to while you bag the sand...

Raindrops keep falling on B Bar patrons' heads....

During this afternoon's downpour... a reader files a report (including the above photo) from the Bowery:

"crazy roof leaks at b bar. puddles on floor. patrons holding umbrellas."

Perhaps they'll need to building up the wall outside to keep out the floodwaters...

It was a dark and stormy night...

I stood on Avenue B at Sixth Street last evening trying to get photos of the brilliant displays of lightning to the north... wasn't successful...

GammaBlog shot this video of the storm looking from Houston looking north...

Meanwhile, love was in the air!

Per Craigslist:

We watched the lightning storm - m4w (East Village)

Alright, I feel absolutely ridiculous posting on here, but if we met watching a lightning storm last night, and you're actually on this site, I figure it'd be worth a shot....

Meanwhile meanwhile...

Abandoned air conditioners ready to cool you off in AC heaven

As I am exclusively reporting, it's pretty warm outside right now....

And, subsequently, a lot of ACs are on... and a lot of people seem to be tossing their old ACs, which all may need just a little work.... I think these babies might need to have their filters cleaned...

Weather on the 00s: It's not that cold out, OK?

Was 32 degrees this morning at the usual time. Wind chill made it feel like 27, said the Weather Channel. On the bus, people from the neighborhood were dressed for a trip to Siberia. The boy was cranky. He told his mother he was too hot. "You can't take off your scarf or you'll get sick," she threatened. He continued to whine. She finally relented. "OK, you can take off one of your hats."
