Just noting the new murals on the rolldown gates at Best Housekeeping at 17 Avenue A. (Home of the best business sign in the East Village?)
You'll likely recognize the work of East Village artist Ori Carino, who worked on these last week. Among his artwork, he created the great mural on the rolldown gate outside the Mars Bar (part of which a resident was able to save!).
As Bedford + Bowery noted last week, Best Housekeeping turns 90 this year. The family owns the building … and in an interview from July 2012, owner Fred Stern said that he hopes to have the wholesale appliance store ready for the next generation — he has six boys and one daughter.
A few weeks ago, local musician-artist-folk heroPaul Kostabi added his character sprkl to the roll-down gate at Cacio e Vino, 80 Second Ave. between East Fifth Street and East Fourth Street.
On Thursday night, he started work on the gate at Ballaro across the Avenue…
The evening included a visit from producer-label owner-musician Walter Schreifels (Quicksand, Gorilla Biscuits, Youth of Today…)
We've been watching the ad mural for Modelo come to life on East 12th Street at Avenue A … (former home of the "Girls" mural).
Last Saturday!
A few days later!

Today!
Not sure who these folks are in the ad… People who some ad executives think live here … people who some ad executives want to drink Modelo… people who are just random people on a mural…
And a new mural is going up on the formerly green wall here outside Foot Gear Plus on St. Mark's Place at First Avenue... it's an ad for Village Kids Footwear, which is around the corner closer to First Avenue...
...speaking of green, this addition has already been painted over...
Just noting the latest mural by Tats Cru on East Second Street at Avenue A... went up this past week... an ad for Fancy, the social photo sharing website and app...
... and the logo is written over the Pinterest logo...
Multiple readers/tipsters sent along word yesterday about a marriage proposal on the mural on East Second Street at Avenue A... as this photo from RyanAvenueA shows...
And later, Ryan (different one!) notes that the Caitlin of the mural said yes. Hey, he's not even on his knee!
The Late Adopter has a nice shot of the mural too here.
