When there's no more room in the trash for your trash

Another nice weekend, another sighting of overflowing FroYo cup-topped trash in front of St. Mark's Church in-the-Bowery.

Jeremiah has written about this...

...and I don't have anything to add to the discussion...

...but I was curious what people do when they need to discard their trash and there aren't any available trash cans...

That's too funny. Only in NY, kids, can practicality turn into pop art.

It always cracks me up when I see this on the streets and in the subway. It almost seems like a natural human instinct to build these carefully balanced trash towers, akin to nest building in birds. The funniest is when the subway maintenance people put a black trash bag over the top of the can, presumably to prevent people from using it for its intended purpose, and people start stacking their trash on top of it anyway. I guess anti-littering campaigns really do work.

Can you please take a picture of one of the hundreds of thousands of daily asshats who can't get their garbage anywhere near a can, full or otherwise, and instead simply drop it like it was on fire, onto subway tracks, into storm sewers, or where the fuck ever they please?

Granted, the people responsible for overflowing trash cans are mouth-breathing simpletons. They deserve to be mocked for their baffling inability to transport their refuse half of one block to the nearest less-encumbered receptacle. But at least they understand the concept! Real litterers make these people look like Eagle Scouts. It would take the souls of six hundred real litterers before you could pinch together enough decency to match the decorousness of your average suburban puppy crusher.
