The Bean is now open on Broadway and 12th Street

EV Grieve regular jdx notes that the new outpost of Bean is now open on Broadway at 12th Street...

Meanwhile, as we first reported yesterday, the Bean will open a new cafe in the "Crazy Landlord" building...

Nice design, but silly name.

Plastic cups? Fail.

I remember the place on 3rd Street and Ave. A with their big ceramic mugs. The best coffee shop EVER....alas...
That's when I used to walk past the Chillmasters home, going for a big mug of coffee. I drank very little alcohol at that time. Believe it or not.

3rd and A -- LIMBO's! i loved that place. you could play Connect Four and Life and sit and write and chat all day, and i loved those big pastel mugs too. but i know a lot of folks saw it as presaging the yuppiedom of the east village. (SOMETHING always presages the destruction of the ev. no matter how far back you go.)

i THINK that was around the same time ('91-'94?) that little ricky's was in the space at 3rd/1st that's now The Bean. (the ORIGINAL bean. maybe the bean will be our very own hyperlocal starbucks. kill me.)

ahhh, Little Ricky's.

Not to be confused with the drag-queen drug store chain of similar nomenclature.

Oh boy. Little Ricky's and Limbo. Two great East Village places of respect and honor. I want them back. Double damn man.

Marty, I can't blame you. I needed a drink before I posted this.
