Dim Sum Go Go signage arrives on 1st Avenue

Signage arrived yesterday for the Michelin- and Zagat-rated Dim Sum Go Go at 221 First Ave. between 13th Street and 14th Street. (Thanks to Pinch for the photo!)

As we reported back in July 2021, this will be their second NYC location outside the flagship space at 5 E. Broadway in Chinatown. We reached out about details on an opening date. (Update: In a message, Dim Sum said they hope within the next few months.)

Awesome addition. Not sure if this is happening in other neighborhoods, but it seems businesses are taking forever to open up in East Village these days. Signage and announcements are being made, but when i walk by, they still appear to be empty or yet to be opened. Some places, like the Kebab place from Unapologetic Foods (Dhamaka/Semma/Rowdy Rooster owners) has been over a year since they were supposed to open.

What gives?

@ 9:57 a.m. Another example is the Mr. Bao on First Avenue, just north of 15th Street. The sign has been there forever, but there appears to have been no activity whatsoever inside the space.

Completely agree with the first comment. SB opening was delayed for a while and I'm sure the bureaucratic red tape is thick and heavy to cut through across various NYC departments/agencies. I'm still patiently waiting for Tashkent supermarket to open on 6th Ave & Waverly...

FYI - I messaged Unapologetic Foods in early March and they said the kebab place will be open "in a few months". Dim Sum Go Go is truly a gem - almost all dimsum they make by hand. Dim Sum Palace on 2nd Ave is actually serviceable if you know what items to stick to but Go Go will be a huge addition to the neighborhood.

@2:49, good to know, thanks. Still, frustrating to not see these places opening up sooner. Have had a lot of places written down and not seeing them opening is sad.
