The NYPD has released an image of a suspect in connection with the Sept. 2 break-in at Most Holy Redeemer Church on Third Street.
Police said the man entered the church between Avenue A and Avenue B around 3:45 p.m. after jumping a fence and damaging the front door. He then fled on foot.
As previously reported, the incident prompted an extensive NYPD response, including Emergency Service Unit officers and K-9 teams. Police sources later said there was no bomb or active-shooter threat and that nothing appeared to have been taken.

🚨WANTED FOR A BURGLARY: On Wednesday, September 2, 2026, 2026, at approximately 3:45 P.M., an unidentified male individual entered the Most Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church located at 169 East 3rd Street in the confines of the 9th Precinct, by jumping over the fence through the front door, causing damage. The unidentified male individual then fled on foot to parts unknown. Kids these days… Even the burglars can’t let that phone leave their hand for a minute.
Can't they geolocate his phone? Assuming he's stupid enough to keep it on and connected. I realize there are hundreds of active phones on the block but they trim that down (like they did on The Wire lol) and if they know which way he ran that could help too.
