Dueling inflatable Union rats land TV role

Those lovable, huggable inflatable Union rats had a moment of TV glory this morning ... as crews for the Hulu series "Difficult People" were filming on Second Avenue at Sixth Street...

One looked like the real deal...

... the other did not...

No word on what they did to craft services.

Crews will be around several streets tomorrow filming scenes for the CBS political drama "Madam Secretary" with Téa Leoni...

Among other places, they'll be filming on Third Street between First Avenue and Second Avenue, a block that has received a lot of attention already this week... and where EVG correspondent Steven spotted this filming notice...

EVG reader Mr. Baggs noted that the film crew has placed their own cones along the block today. Hopefully there won't be any cone confusion.

7B train closed for repairs

If you depend on the 7B train, then you may need to find an alternative means of transportation tonight.

Eh, crews for the Amazon series "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" will be filming here on Seventh Street and Avenue B tonight ... and inside 7B/Vazac's/Horseshoe Bar... (the bar is closed this evening, will return tomorrow at noon).

This marks the second night of filming around here for the 1950s-era drama

That '50s show on St. Mark's Place

If you walked down St. Mark's Place between Avenue A and First Avenue in the past, oh, 24 hours, then you likely noticed the 1950s TV transformation for Amazon's "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel."

First! A recap of the pilot via Deadline:

Set in the 1950s, the project centers on Miriam “Midge” Maisel (Brosnahan), who had her life mapped out for herself: go to college, find a husband, have 2.5 kids and throw the best Yom Kippur dinners in her elegant Manhattan apartment. But when her life takes an unexpected turn, Midge will have to decide quickly what else she’s good at. Going from uptown housewife to a stand-up comic in a grungy club in the Village is an appalling choice to everyone but Midge.

Tony Shalhoub and Michael Zegen (Bugsy Siegel on "Boardwalk Empire") are also in the drama's cast.

EVG Vintage Car Correspondent Derek Berg checked out the working props...

Thankfully there's a tire repair place now on the block for all these cars...

Crews were also spotted filming a scene at Josie's last night on Sixth Street between Avenue A and Avenue B.

Signs say that crews will be filming this afternoon into the early morning hours (4 a.m.) on St. Mark's Place.

News of the filming apparently annoyed some residents (or visitors!) of 94-96 St. Mark's Place. Page Six noted that people defaced the flyer about the shoot inside the building's entrance.

“Fuck off,” one person wrote, while another added to the bottom, “You better hope I have nowhere to be during this, or your fucking ‘scene’ is ruined!”

An EVG reader found some amusement in the fact that crews are filming scenes for the TV shows "Friends From College" and "Elementary"on the Bowery this week...

Fall TV preview underway

Busy week for filming in and around Tompkins Square Park. Yesterday, crews for the CBS drama "Blue Bloods" were filming scenes on Avenue B and 10th Street (and probably elsewhere) ... this afternoon, the NBC series "Blindspot" is filming in Tompkins Square Park... (some kind of press conference where someone pulls a gun...) The trucks are lined on Avenue B from Seventh Street to 11th Street...

[Bonus "Blindspot" dummy shot...or Margarita March survivor]

And tomorrow, there are posted signs around Avenue A and Fifth Street and Sixth Street for HBO's "The Deuce," which has already used East Village streets for some filming...

Avenue A on high alert for Ice-T sightings

That one of shows in the "Law & Order" family is filming around here was never really all that newsworthy... given how often they'd film around here through the years.

However, I am noting the fact that "Law & Order: SVU" is filming along Avenue A and Tompkins Square Park... mostly because I had no idea that NBC was still creating new episodes. (I thought the show only existed to help the USA Network fill 14 hours of programming a day.) But "SVU" is in its 17th season. So keep an eye out for cast members Mariska Hargitay and Ice-T today.

Now! Flashback to September 2011 when "SVU" filmed a scene at Sunny & Annie's on Avenue B...

And NBC has picked up the show for season No. 18, as Ice-T learned yesterday...

[Updated] Crime drama to play out on East Village streets

Film and TV shoots around have become so commonplace that they aren't even worth noting. For the most part.

Having said [written] that, however... "The Blacklist," an FBI crime drama on NBC starring James Spader, will be camped out all day on parts of East Seventh Street and Avenue A, among other places.

The last time that we recall crews for "The Blacklist" filming around here, they had a scene with FBI agents in tactical gear and black SUVs in Tompkins Square Park. Which provided for a few confusing moments for anyone not paying attention...

Updated 7:01 a.m.

Apparently this scene doesn't call for Joe Strummer in the background... the crew temporarily covered the mural outside Niagara on East Seventh Street...

Updated 6 p.m.

Workers uncovered the mural after the filming... someone said that they couldn't have it in the shoot because it is copyrighted art????

More (TV) crime drama in Tompkins Square Park today

Crews were out early this morning setting up shots for NBC's "The Blacklist" ...

... and a little later, there was some fake FBI action as well as star James Spader (seated in hat and glasses)...

"The Blacklist" shut down part of the Park last Wednesday as well ... followed by the "Law and Order: SVU" shoot in the Park on Friday. (Plus that Richard Gere film has been doing scenes in the Park...)

Here comes 'Golden Boy'

Crews working on a new TV series called "Golden Boy" will be rolling into parts of the neighborhood this evening... we spotted the above sign on Seventh Street and Avenue B ... there are others along parts of Avenue A and B ... and some side streets...

According to IMDB, "Golden Boy" involves "the making of a man that tracks one cop's meteoric rise from officer to detective to police commissioner." The cast includes Al Sapienza, Nicolette Pierini and Theo James.
