Another flyer campaign to 'stop the rooftop noise' at 84 E. 10th St.

These signs are up along East 10th Street between Fourth Avenue and Third Avenue … (we also spotted some on Third Avenue…) …

Here's a look at the recently remodeled 84 E. 10th St. …

And the helpful arrow points out where the roof likely is…

Seriously, though … there have been complaints about rooftop noise here dating back to June 2010 … before the building got the makeover…

According to a listing that we spotted for No. 84 in March 2013, there is only one residential unit here … (the 2-bedroom space was asking $7,500). The amenities included "a huge private roof deck."

[Updated] Reminders: Avenue A closed today; RIP tree

Hey, Avenue A will be closed between East Fourth Street and East Seventh Street from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and tomorrow. (Curious if the Avenue will actually be closed for all those listed hours.)

Con Ed is installing a new transformer or something at the substation between Fifth Street and Sixth Street.

The flashing signs up on the Avenue suggest that motorists use an alternate route, which is NOT through Tompkins Square Park. As for cyclists, you can ride on the sidewalk like you normally do. (OMG! Kidding! Jeez!)

On a more serious note, EVG reader Tin Can On 5th noted the removal of the last tree on Avenue A alongside the substation …

Not sure if the tree came down because of this weekend's work … or if the tree was diseased.

Updated 10:11 a.m.

One of the cranes on A is right where the tree used to be…

A reminder not to drive on Avenue A next weekend

You probably noticed the arrival of these yesterday at strategic points along Avenue A (and assorted side streets) … We were hopeful that they'd display some sort of welcome sign (use your creativity!)…

But they are a notice about a closure...

Next Saturday AND Sunday, Avenue A will be closed between East Fourth Street and East Seventh Street from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. So, "Use alternative route."

We heard something about Con Ed installing new transformers at the substation between Fifth Street and Sixth Street.

Hey, have you guys seen Sabrina's bear coat?

Spotted on Third Avenue at East 13th Street… Dang.

Well, it does sounds rediculous, Sabrina, but we hope you get your bear coat back. As you said, it brought joy to the people, as does this sign.

Ad changer on the loose!

In recent days someone has taken a Sharpie (or whatever) to various ads around the neighborhood… providing some social commentary…

A 'Dear Super' letter: One way to find a new apartment

An EVG reader who lives on East Eighth Street between Avenue B and Avenue C sent along this "Dear Super" note affixed to the front door of an apartment building.

As you can see, the apartment hunter is reaching right out to the super — skipping those busybody middlepeople like brokers! — for help securing a "quieter one bedroom or large loft studio" to move to.

The apartment hunter does a fine job of presenting him- or herself — "very clean, reliable, keep a beautiful apartment with pride."

Anyway, what an old-fashioned way to find an apartment. Perhaps it might just work? Hard to say! My super always ignores my notes. "We do not have any hot water again…"

Someone taped a handful of the above flyers to various trees and light poles along St. Mark's Place between Second Avenue and First Avenue … we blocked out the photos of the woman accused of being a home wrecker …

In any event, someone has ripped down the flyers, which look homemade legit and not some kind of wacky marketing campaign…

EVG contributor Derek Berg spotted this sign on Fourth Avenue near East Ninth Street this afternoon ... not sure if this is legit ... or some kind of wacky viral marketing campaign or what not... In any event, did you catch the part about the "roach poison in Hennessey"?

The NSA needs your support!

At least according to these flyers on St. Mark's Place. After pledging support, will people need to see "After Earth"?

East Village flyer tells Church of Scientology members that they must see 'After Earth' — 3 times

[Photo by Chloe Sweeney McGlade via Facebook]

Spotted this morning on St. Mark's Place between Second Avenue and Third Avenue. A stern request for members of the Church of Scientology — they must see "After Earth," possibly to be known as The Worst Movie Ever Made, a minimum of three times. Per the small print: "Failure to do so will result in severe consequences." (Per various reports, "After Earth" is full of Scientology-laced themes and messages.)

It's all an effort to cheer up "After Earth" star Will Smith, who isn't used to such box-office disappointments. The flyer says that you can even send Will a positive video message.

But remember, regardless of the gag with the flyer, DANGER IS REAL.
