The Loisaida Festival is under way on Avenue C
Meanwhile, I find it odd that Cafe Pepe Rosso isn't open for breakfast like usual on a Sunday morning...
Melanie took some photos too.

Something new and different: Street fair!
On Third Avenue, from Fifth Street to 14th Street.
Meanwhile! There's also a street fair on 10th Street between Second Avenue and First Avenue... as part of the Lower East Side Festival of the Arts.
The end of Evolution (or whatever the place was called)
Went by the bar on the corner of Second Avenue and Fourth Street -- the one that had so many names I'm not even really sure what it's called -- for the flamethrowing contest* last night... and it was...
...closed. 4-ever. Apparently they did spend all their money on new awnings.
I will be hosting a screening of "Cocktail" later today* outside the bar with Hunter-Gatherer and Jeremiah Moss.
* not true

Another robbery suspect tries to flee the police by jumping into the East River
"A bizarre armed robbery triggered a brawl on the lower East Side Friday that ended with a gunman trying to get away by jumping into the East River." (Daily News)
Last month, the alleged ATM bandit tried to elude police by jumping (diving?) into the East River.
One more jumper/diver, and we have ourselves a trends piece...

Report: LeSouk to continue haunting the East Village
Down by the Hipster has the story: "Bad news for Avenue B residents — Le Souk's liquor license has been reinstated. In a shocking decision, the New York State Appellate Division, First Department overturned a decision that resulted in the cancellation of Le Souk's license, saying it was "not based upon substantial evidence because it relied on a 'guesstimate' in determining that Le Souk was overcrowded on the night of Jan. 13, 2007.'"
