Also on the liquor license docket: Sigmund Pretzel Shop

Sigmund's, the new gourmet pretzel shop at 29 Avenue B near Third Street, is applying for a license to serve wine ... which is fine (heh, rhymes)... but how about some beer for those pretzels? And has anyone been here yet? Just curious what this place is like...

Updated:

Food blogger (and EV Grieve reader) BaHa paid a visit to Sigmund's last month... She wrote about it at her site, With Leftovers. Briefly though, she said: "These babies are pretzels at their best."

I go there once or twice a week with my kids after school. The pretzels are delicious and fresh. The service is AMAZING. Everyone I've encountered behind the counter is cheerful, courteous, helpful, and tolerant (kids after school are often no fun for people in the service industry).

It's a little pricey for an afterschool snack at $3-$3.50 a pretzel, but they're big and substantial. Have not tried a sandwich yet, but have had the cider and donuts - also delicious. I hope they manage to stick around. I think it's an excellent addition to the neighborhood. We need more daytime businesses on Avenue B.

(I've also stopped by without the kids for a snack for myself. they're that good.)

Hi Marnie. Thanks for the report.

They're delish. The people there are super friendly and told me that Urban Daddy got their writeup completely wrong. You can smell the pretzels outside. If only they were open into the late late night.

It's a nice place--I posted a few photos on my blog --they also make some awesome jelly donuts.

they donated gift certs to the neighborhood school (ps 363) silent auction -- nice that they're supporting the community even tho they just got here!

The sandwiches were great but the girl was really mean when I asked if they would heat up my sandwich for me on a freezing cold snowy day
